"Bulgarian women in tradional costume (Sukman)" №16821

Art. number: 16821

Description

Women national costume stands out with its genuine beauty. Its preparation required a lot of efforts from the young unmarried girls. Every sukman (traditional woolen dress, tunic) has its own distinctive features and patterns, unique for the region.

This litak is girded with long and narrow belt, called tkanitsa. Under the litak there is a long-sleeved laced white shirt, made of cotton, called dolnyatcha.

Unmarried girls wear white or colored headscarves, married women wear only black headscarves. During weekdays both men and women wear tsarvuli, also called opintsi (traditional sandal-like footgear with reinforced soles, made of pigskin) and on holidays – tsrevie (shoes). Every family used to grow hemp, of which they made rugs, since wool available could not cover all the need for clothing, shirts and rugs. Hemp rugs were called pratenyachi.

Reproduction is a high quality eco ink print on an Italian canvas, wrapped on a hard back. Reproduction is arranged in an appropriate frame for the image and is ready for hanging.
