Born in Paris, Manet has a remarkable background and educated parents, but with all his respect for them, he stubbornly resists their desire to make a career as a lawyer. Between 1850 and 1856, after not accepting him in the army, Manet studied at the painter Thomas Couture. He spent 6 years studying the laws of composition and painting. In his free time he copied the sails of the old masters in the Louvre.
Manet befriends Impressionists Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Paul Cézanne and Camille Pissarro. Manet is the only impressionist who draws military scenes. Despite the general idea that Impressionists recreate the light and the light of the world, Manet does not avoid the problems of his time.
