Description

Saint Dimitrios of Thessaloniki - The Wonderworker or Saint Demetrius (оn Greek: Άγιος Δημήτριος της Θεσσαλονίκης) is a Christian saint. He was born in Thessaloniki in the 3rd century. His father was the governor of the city, and on religious beliefs - a Christian.

When Dimitar's parents die, Emperor Maximian appoints him to a high military post with the order to persecute the Christians. The child-baptized Dimitar, however, patronized them and began to promote the spread of Christ's faith.

The date of the death of the martyr is 26 October. According to the legend, before his death, Dimitar surrendered to his robes Lupus, who, after his master's death, took up the ring and his blood-soaked clothes that filled the believing soldiers.
