"Bulgarian woman in costume from the Pirin ethnographic area" №17876

Art. number: 17876

Description

Women national costume stands out with its genuine beauty. Its preparation required a lot of efforts from the young unmarried girls. Every sukman (traditional woolen dress, tunic) has its own distinctive features and patterns, unique for the region.

For the Pirin ethnographic area, the costume consists of a shirt, a saddle, a belt and, unlike other folklore areas, there is only one apron.

The shirt is long, like a tunic, and its overall appearance is formed by the sara that is the outer garment. Typically, the chest is open on the chest and the length of the skirts varies depending on a number of factors, such as the season, the occasion and the specific place. Richly ornamented is mostly the bosom and low down at the end of the skirts. An integral part of the Pirin women's costume is the red woolen belt and the long narrow apron.

The head of the woman from Pirin is always wearing a towel tied down under the hair. The Pirin costume is very heavy, which justifies the more moderate tempo that girls support during the dancing.

Reproduction is a high quality eco ink print on an Italian canvas, wrapped on a hard back. Reproduction is arranged in an appropriate frame for the image and is ready for hanging.
