Women national costume stands out with its genuine beauty. Its preparation required a lot of efforts from the young unmarried girls. Every sukman (traditional woolen dress, tunic) has its own distinctive features and patterns, unique for the region.

For the Pirin ethnographic area, the costume consists of a shirt, a saddle, a belt and, unlike other folklore areas, there is only one apron.

Typically, the chest is open on the chest and the length of the skirts varies depending on a number of factors, such as the season, the occasion and the specific place.
